FileCrucible

Terms of Service

By using FileCrucible you agree to these terms. Last updated 29 July 2026.

1. The service

FileCrucible converts files between formats, free of charge, without requiring an account. It is provided on an as-is basis and may be modified, rate-limited, or discontinued at any time without notice.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use this service to:

We may block access, without notice, where use appears to breach these terms or threatens availability for others.

3. Your files remain yours

You retain all rights to the files you upload and to the converted output. We claim no ownership or licence over your content beyond the temporary technical permission needed to perform the conversion you requested and deliver the result back to you.

You are responsible for having the right to convert what you upload. You confirm that you do when you use the service.

4. No warranty

Format conversion is inherently imperfect. Some conversions reconstruct information that the source format never stored, and results vary with the input. We make no warranty that a conversion will be accurate, complete, lossless, fit for your purpose, or successful at all. Always keep your original file.

The service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill arising from your use of or inability to use this service — including a failed conversion, a corrupted output file, or files deleted by the automatic purge before you downloaded them.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you are a consumer your statutory rights are unaffected.

6. Availability and deletion

Files are deleted automatically within 24 hours, and there is no backup. Download your results promptly; once purged they are unrecoverable. There is no uptime commitment.

7. Advertising

The service is funded by advertising. We do not control the content of third-party advertisements and do not endorse advertised products. Clicking an ad takes you to a third party governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

8. Open source

Conversion is performed by ConvertX, which is licensed under the AGPL-3.0, and by the open-source tools it orchestrates including FFmpeg, LibreOffice, ImageMagick, Pandoc, and Calibre. Those projects deserve the credit for the actual work, and their respective licences apply to their components.

9. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's place of establishment. We may update them, and material changes will be reflected in the date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
